ALL THAT GLITTERS

On the 2nd of March art cinema Øst For Paradis held their annual Oscar Night. This was the first time since I've become a volunteer there that I was both a part of the crew working the event and had to photograph at the same time. Fun!
Here are a couple of mood photographs from the very long but very cosy night.

Pop over to the cinema's official Facebook page for red carpet pictures and much more! Note that there are two albums: pre- and mid show.

In spirit of the night we put up a very alternative curtain.

Goodiebags with - amongst others - a dvd and gift certificates to the record shop Stardust and chocolatier Sommerbird.

Two of my wonderful - and very well dressed - colleagues, Simone and Rikke.

Before the guests arrived a couple of the people working the event did a TV-interview about the event.

What a beauty!

Another very proper dressed co-member of the Oscar-crew, Anders, ready to bid the guests champagne upon arrival.

Two jazz musicians made sure to set the mood pre-show.

As you might be able to make out from these gentlemen's t-shirts they were quite disappointed that Joaquin Phoenix wasn't nominated for his performance in Her - luckily they seemed to be in quite the cheerful mood in spite of that.

My colleague, Rikke, was dressed up as the character Shosanna from Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds.

Our hero of an operator, Mathias, took a well deserved break during the show.

Posters of Nebraska, 12 Years A Slave, Ne Me Quitte Pas, August: Osage County, Wadjda, and Dallas Buyers Club - four of which had Oscar nominations.

12 Years A Slave ended up winning both Best Original Sceenplay, Best Supporting Actress (Lupita Nyong'o) and of course the grand prize of the night; Best Film, while Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto took home statuettes for their individual roles in Dallas Buyers Club.

On a side note I can definitely recommend you go see Nebraska if you haven't seen it yet! (:

PAP FOR A NIGHT

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to act as a paparazzi at Øst for Paradis' gala opening of Cannes i Paradis: A two day-festival consisting of four hand picked films from this year's Cannes Festival - films which would otherwise probably not be shown in Danish cinema.
They served champagne and had rolled out the red carpet in order to make the exited guests feel just like the stars of Cannes.

Ditte Daugbjerg Christensen, co-owner of Øst for Paradis, bid everyone welcome and talked a little bit about The Cannes International Film Festival. She also thanked the mayor of Aarhus, Jacob Bundsgaard, for supporting the cinema and invited him to the stage to officially open the festival.

First film of the night was the heartwarming Indian The Lunchbox. Definitely worth watching.

Edit: The Lunchbox premieres in Øst For Paradis 20/03/14.

A NIGHT IN PARADISE

Last Tuesday Aarhus' unique cinema, Øst for Paradis, asked me to photograph their annual event A Night in Paradise where the cinema closes as it is usually know and opens up again for a night full of art, music and movies. There were couches, beer and coffee in the courtyard, poetry readings, concerts and both art and photography exhibitions.

The first guests arrived and checked out the program over a beer in the cosy courtyard.

Artists exhibitioning their work at the Pop-Up Edition.

Peter from Illy made delicious coffee for the guests all night.

Exited guests recieving their free tickets.

First attempt at putting up the big screen.

Annemette also made sure that the guests were kept hydrated.

Not everyone were bothered by the sudden rain.

During the heavy rain the Pop-Up Edition moved inside the café on the ground floor.

Perleplade Marmelade had quirky activities for the guests.

The guys once again try to put up the screen for the open air silent movie showing later.

A couple of the people from Super 8.

The band Ulvetimen waiting to go on to play their first of two concert in Sal A.

After the concert Ulvetimen showed their two new music videos for 'Manden Uden Navn' and 'Dem Vi Drukner' by Anna Emma Haudal.

Super 8 presented a couple of short films in Sal D.

The photographer Anne Lærke Koefoed exibitioned her work from a trip to Uganda.

After dark the guests cosied up for the silent movie showing in the courtyard.

Vestbo Trio played in Sal A.

Organizer of the event, Rikke Johnsen and Line Daugbjerg Christensen, co-director of the cinema, after yet another successful A Night in Paradise.

Thank you for a great night!
